What Conservatives and Liberals Alike Are Missing About Michal Jordan’s Statement on Race & Police

Michael Jordan issued a statement Monday on race and police relations that has ignited conversation online. After all, the sports legend doesn’t usually speak out on political matters.

Jordan’s statement is even-keeled, one might even call it right down the middle. It offers solace for both people of color and our country’s police force.

However, our various media entities aren’t exactly treating it that way.
They seem to be cherry picking in order to drum up outrage and readership.

Just check out how the story was originally tweeted by ESPN’s The Undefeated:

Jordan’s statement reads, in part:

“I have been deeply troubled by the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement and angered by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers.”

Many Black Lives Matter-friendly publications publish only the first half of the sentence and ignore the second half. The opposite holds true for conservative-leaning publications.
